Presentation

Your final deliverables consists of three parts: 1) delivering your presentation, 2) rating your team member’s contributions to the project overall, and 3) watching other presentations.

1) You will record a 15 minute (hard limit) presentation and make it available to the class (via an online spreadsheet we will make available). Each member of the team should have a role in the presentation. There is no need to dress up, unless you prefer to. The presentation will be graded using the following criteria.

Relevance (10%): Is this a relevant problem of importance? Is there sufficient motivation/background to support the relevance of the problem and put it in context?
Impact (30%): Is the work novel and a potentially useful contribution to the field? Is this impact clearly demonstrated (e.g., showing improvements to an existing or baseline design/process, demonstration with actual data, etc.)?
Quality (40%): Is the work of good quality and technically accurate? Do the optimization approaches conform to best practices? Is an optimal solution just presented, or is its meaning and implications also discussed and explored? Is the problem well-scoped for the team size?
Presentation (20%): Is the presentation clear? well-organized? visually appealing?

2) In the comments section of LS rate your contribution and that of your peers (as a percentage) for the project overall. You will be penalized if you contributed significantly less than expected. In almost all cases this is not an issue.

3) In place of watching lectures that week, you will watch 3 other presentations to be exposed to a broader set of optimization applications. Submit a maximum one-page summary of which ones you watched and what you learned from each.
